Ambala Cantonment is one of the oldest Cantonments of our country. In order to meet the educational requirements of the children of the Air Force personnel, Air Force School was established in 1975 with primary classes and eventually as the requirement arose extra classes were constantly added to the school.

In 1981 Air Force School was affiliated to the CBSE. Class X was added in 1983. It acquired the status of Sr. Secondary School in 1996. Presently School offers all streams, namely, Science (Medical/ Non Medical), Commerce and Humanities. Since the School has acquired the status of Sr Sec School, it is one of the premier educational institutions in this region under the aegis of IAF Educational and Cultural Society.

The School is situated at three different pockets i.e. Race Course, Pinto Lines and Church Complex. The Kindergarten Wing at Pinto Lines and the Primary School at Race Course act as feeders for the Senior Secondary School at Church Complex.
